• Question: Will we ever be able to live on Mars?

      Owen, I’m firmly convinced that we could live on Mars now. However, it would only be temporarily, and it would take a very long time to get there. Eventually we will colonise Space, but not necessarily Mars – it could feel a bit like camping in your own backyard!

      Hey Owen

      I think it would definitely be possible to live on Mars – the main problems at the moment are that the atmosphere is toxic to us, and there isn’t any liquid water (that we know of). If we could introduce bacteria and then plants to the planet that could convert the atmosphere in a similar way that the Earth’s atmosphere was converted then it might be possible.

      The other problem with living on Mars is that we would probably be leaving Earth because of some major catastrophic space event, such as the sun expanding. If that was the case Mars isn’t going to be far enough away – we’ll probably have to find another solar system to support us!

      Yes! We will definitely be living, or at least have holiday homes/resorts, on other planets!
