      123yayicancount,

I’m not going to tell you who to vote for! That is up to you. I can tell you what getting the prize would do for me, however.

Firstly it would help my career. If I can tell people (like future employers and funding bodies) that I’m good at telling people about the work that I do, and that the voters appreciated it by giving me a prize, then they (the funding body and so on) are more likely to take notice of me.

Secondly, it means that my taking part in the competition has helped you. If you care enough to vote for me, then it means that I’ve helped you to understand a bit more about Science and about yourself. Good stuff!

Thirdly, it means that I can use the money to buy some props so that next time somebody asks me how a heart works or how an artery becomes blocked I can show them using a good model, and not just wave a bit of plumbing pipe around!

      Hi 124yayicancount, lashe246

That’s a really good question and it is very difficult to answer.

Honestly I would love for you to vote for me because it means I can carry on doing experiments in schools like yours and means I will be able to come up with some new experiments that are very similar to what we do here in the lab. I’ll also be able to share these with other STEM ambassadors so it’s very possible that someone could come into your school and do these experiments with you if that’s something you might be interested in. A lot of these experiments are very explosive so if you like making things explode, I’m your girl! It also gives me the opportunity to develop science activities for children that might not get to do science experiments that often, such as those with special needs or those in poorer areas.

If you vote for me it also tells me that I’m doing a good job at answering your questions, and means I can carry on answering them for another two weeks! You can ask me as many questions as you like and I will do my very best to answer all of them.

      Amy

      Hi 124yayicancount!

That’s a good question. I think every scientist here is doing great work, and it’s so good to see other scientists reaching out to inspire the younger generation. So as long you vote for someone, i think you’re doing an awesome thing. Encouraging us to encourage you!

With regards to the prize, I hope to give it back to the students. I will organize a competition, where you get to come up with a science project or idea, or even a science day out to the zoo or wherever (see my page for more info) and i will pick the winner and you can use that money for your science and for your learning.

Vote for who you are most inspired by, be true to what you enjoy, be true to what you connect with 🙂
