• Question: What is your least favorite aspect of microbiology and why?

      Hi,

      My least favourite part is setting up sputum culture on agar so we can isolate bacteria and yeasts that cause lower respiratory tract infections. That is, infections that occur in the smaller branches if the pipes that feed air into your lungs.
      Why? I cannot stand saliva, it turns my stomach. And if someone has a particularly nasty infection, i struggle setting them up. They come in different colours green, yellowy cream etc and thickness.
