I AM a doctor – a Doctor of Philosophy. I don’t want to be a Medico – that’s not what interests me. I’m proud to be a Scientist!

This is a funny question, i like it!
Well, lots of smart people choose different careers. Some choose to be scientists, some choose to be doctors, others choose to be bankers, etc!
But, i actually really want to work with patients and so I am going back to university for even more studying so that i can become a doctor and work with patients.

Hi Albert,
Not all the people in the world who are smart are doctors. I know smart people who trained to be doctors but realised that they would like to do other aspects of medicine such a teaching, or public health practitioners.
The thing about your first degree is it makes you realise your potential and other talents and interests you never knew you had and would like to purse further.
Being a doctor isn’t just about your intelligence, although very important. your personality and level of commitment counts too as you have to interact with patients, nurses and other healthcare professionals.. -

Hi Albertdarwin
If all the smartest people in the world were doctors, who would be left to be engineers and physicists and rocket scientists and discover new drugs? I think being a doctor is a vocation and you have to really want to work with patients. I wouldn’t mind being a doctor, but I enjoy the puzzles of diseases and doing the real hard work of curing them that the doctors never get to do! They only get to give people drugs – we make them!
