Only one answer – the common cold! Do you know anybody who has never had it?

I agree with Anita, the common cold is super infectious! And it is transmissible through the air. But there’s also a big list of others, and fortunately most of the others don’t occur in the UK due to our mild climate! For example, Malaria is a huge problem in countries where mosquitos like to live!

Anita and Daryl are right – the common cold is probably the most common infectious disease you will come across. The most devastating infectious disease in history has probably been the flu (influenza) because it mutates so quickly to avoid natural resistance, which is why there are so many different types. However scientists recently found they were able to create a vaccine against a new strain of flu in under two weeks. We can also predict some of the mutations that might happen in preparation for winter. This means the virus is less of a problem than it has been in the past – but should never be underestimated!
