I didn’t think much of GCSE chemistry, but I was good at it so I carried on A level. I found some of it hard – it’s a step up from GCSE, but I also found it a lot more interesting. The chemistry you learn at A level is a lot more similar to chemistry at University level. It was chemistry A level that I learnt that you could make drugs based on their chemical structure and that’s what has influenced my career ever since.

You will always come across something that’s hard but if you enjoy it, your more likely to do well. So that’s my advice. If you enjoy A level chemistry then you’ll be ok no matter how hard you find it.
