      Abdiknowaalphabet,

I think that it will take some time before my research will help people. Probably the one closest to being used is one that I’ve mentioned in some of my answers to questions – making a stem cell-covered patch to mend the hearts of children, that will grow as they grow, and not need replacement by further surgery. If all goes well, then human trials may start in a year or so. But I can’t be sure of this. If we were talking about adult humans, then I would be more sure. But this sort of thing can’t be tested in adults. They just don’t grow like children!

Good question. It’s hard to know because I work at such an early stage of a drug’s development and it can take another 15-20 years from what I do to making a medicine but I hope what I do will help.

      Good question.

I think my research is laying down the foundations for treatments of brain diseases that will affect future generations- our children’s generation- perhaps your generation!

Drug discovery is a long process. And every new piece of science we discover, is a big step towards a cure

      Hey

I think my research is helping other scientists towards a cure, and that means that I must be helping more people. Even though progress can sometimes feel slow, I think that if we can get a drug in 10 years time that will save thousands of lives every year then it will be worth it
